Reverse reading:
The staff has a reverse mm reading at the back, which is widely used for surveying industries. It will permit users to read height at eye level. To read the metric on the back, just extend the staff up until it hits the desired length (bridge the button for example), then read the measurement at the smallest unextended section which is at eye-level. This will give you the distance from tip to tip of the staff.
